Capturing Hope: The 2026 Michigan VisionWalk
There is a unique kind of energy that fills the air at Kensington Metropark during the Michigan VisionWalk.
As a photographer, I am often looking for the "perfect light," but on May 2nd, the light didn't come from the sun—it came from the incredible community that gathered to support the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
A Personal Connection
While I love documenting community events, this one holds a special place in my heart. I am honored to be involved because of the Diuble Family Vision Foundation. Their dedication to providing education, support, and funding for those with vision loss is what brought me here, and seeing their impact firsthand makes every shutter click more meaningful. Being the "eyes" for an event that fights for sight is a privilege I don't take lightly.
Walking for a Cure
This year marked the 19th anniversary of the walk in Michigan. Since 2009, this local chapter has raised over $700,000, and that legacy was on full display. From the "VisionHeroes" in their capes to the dedicated teams like Team Dillon and Nevaeh's Crew, every face told a story of resilience and hope.
Moments from the Day
My goal for this gallery was to capture the deep connections shared by the participants:
The Kick-off:
The excitement at Shelter C as walkers geared up for the 5k.
The Spirit:
Capturing the smiles of those who earned their 2026 VisionWalk T-shirts and All-Star medals.
The Scenery:
Kensington Metropark provided a stunning backdrop, but the real focus was the sea of supporters united by a single mission.
